The Fourth of July is just a few weeks away, and if you typically shoot fireworks, this year could be more expensive.

Because of the pandemic, there is a shortage of fireworks, and for those who typically wait until the last minute to buy, there may not be any fireworks because the local fireworks tents will likely be sold out.

Along with shipping delays, the products themselves weren't being produced with factories shut down due to the pandemic.

Estimates are that this year, there will be 35% fewer fireworks as opposed to last year. As a result, consumers can expect to pay an average of 30% more.

The price increase comes from China, so regardless of the company or which tent you make your purchase, every tent will be more expensive this year.

This shortage also means professional firework shows might not be as big as in years past. Reports are that the freight cost to get the fireworks from China to Northwest Arkansas has doubled from 2020.

Fireworks can be purchased in Arkansas beginning June 20th.
